The Bowling Video

Below is the video I put together from our little bowling outing last night. If you’re patient you get to see Weezer’s first attempt at bowling in more than a century (maybe a decade, but who’s counting?). POTD coming up a bit later.

POTD #2 - Maddox & Mills

So I got an email from my Seesta yesterday telling me she had new pics up. That makes my job easier because I don’t have to hunt down a fresh POTD. But, when there are multiple pictures with POTD potential it makes it difficult again. Who could possibly choose between a picture of Maddox in mid-air in a burlap sack and a picture of Mills being… Mills? Check out her Flickr page to see more goofy pics of the youngn’s and some pics of her new casa.

Weezer made it to Houston safe and sound even though she had to wait for us to pick her up at the airport for about 25min. One of the drawbacks of only having one vehicle. It’s not a large enough drawback to persuade us to buy a second car though.

And last but not least, we had another ultrasound appointment today. Gabriela is weighing in at 4.32lbs and has lots of hair and her daddy’s nose. You can see the latest Princess Gabriela ultrasound pictures here. The lady administering the ultrasound estimated her weight to be about 8lbs at birth. Being the experienced father that I am I’m disagreeing and going with 7lbs. Anyone else care to give it a guess? The winner will get bragging rights for 15min.

POTD #1 - Our Nice Garage

The POTD’s are back folks! I know how much you all missed them and I didn’t want to let you down any longer. It also gives me something to look for throughout the day AND it allows gadget usage so it’s all good.

Up until this morning our car wouldn’t fit into the garage because it was stacked floor to ceiling with boxes and other crap that we didn’t quite know what to do with. MBM and I managed to get rid of lots and organize the rest so there would be plenty of room for the vehicle. So, your POTD is our nice, new, clean garage complete with Ford Explorer parked in it.

In other news, I had a slight run-in with our immediate neighbors (the ones that are complete jerks - they have probably Googled us by now and maybe they’re reading… Hi Jerks) because the boys were playing catch and bouncing the basketball around and it went in their yard several times. Soooo sorry. The guy came over and banged on our door like the house was on fire. I thought it was the young’ns so I went down to chew their butts for beating on the door. By the time I got there he was back in his yard but he came back and said he told the boys to keep the ball out of his yard and to put the dog on a leash. Of course Rocky was sitting there (on our property as he normally is) and the woman came around and said in a very rude manner "You know, there is a leach law." Strangely enough, their neighbors on the other side don’t always keep their dogs on a leash and neither do the ones across the street. It took everything I had to not go back over there and give them a piece of my mind. Strange thing is, our realtor warned us about these people before we moved in. The Jerks have a reputation for being… Jerks. Go figure. I’ll be much more prepared next time and tell them to pucker up and K.M.A.

The yard guy came today and will be mowing tomorrow sometime. He’s going to come back on Monday and trim the hedges, cut back the trees, clean the flowerbed, and all kinds of other stuff. Bad thing is I won’t be here to see my freshly trimmed house.

That’s all I have for today. Have you noticed the "What is Gabe Doing?" list over on the right hand side just below the baby? It’s kind of like a mini-blog that I can update from just about anywhere via the internet or my phone. Cool huh?

Our New Furniture

Here it is! Freshly delivered from Mattress Mack (aka Gallery Furniture). Our living room did look pretty good size… Now it looks rather small. We got a couch, love seat, and over-sized chair with an ottoman. Then we got a dining table with seating for 8. Not only did we get the furniture, but they threw in lunch (hamburgers) & three full-size Gallery Furniture basketballs, one for each of the chirrens who we conveniently left at home.

After that we went to the Sketchers outlet where MBM & I got a new pair of shoes, buy one get the second pair for 1/2 price. Then we went to my ex-favorite computer store and I tried to buy something and they wanted to overcharge me. I had a little “Arnie Little” fit and left the store with nothing. Their loss.

MBM, our chirrens, our friend Cristina & her chirrens just got back from our neighborhood swimming hole. They said it was nice. I stayed home and took pictures for you all. How nice was that?

A Very Long Blog! *EDITED*

Well, the month of May has historically been a chaotic one for almost everyone’s household who has kids and any form of extended family relations. May is the month where you see your bank account dwindle. First, there are graduation gifts, end of season parties, last minute doctor’s appointments, end of school parties, and buying parting gifts for teachers, school personnel, bus drivers, scout leaders, volunteers, blah blah blah. Our family is no exception to this chaos and money sucking month. In fact, we not only have to celebrate two birthdays (James and Savannah), but we also managed to add a grueling move, two birthday cake projects due on the same day, driver’s ed for “the mouth”, a baby shower, and a VERY pregnant and moody woman (me) to the mix. Gabe and I have been hot, testy, and have gone from moments of elation to feeling just down right sorry for ourselves! Today, we decided to play hooky from unpacking boxes and cleaning and just go to watch a movie to be mindless and carefree for a while. So, what movie do two children from the 80’s go see? You guessed it, the new Indiana Jones movie. I think it is safe for me to say (with Gabe’s support) for all of you to SAVE your money! Use it to go towards your graduation gifts or something. I will not give much away except some good things should just be left a lone. To me, this movie made Indiana Jones seem more like King Solomon’s Mines (the awful movie with Richard Chamberlain and Sharon Stone) genre and that is just not the way it was. However, I really loved being in the theater, next to Gabe, escaping with him while resting my head on his shoulder and munching on popcorn and M&M’s, sometimes together. Then, we went to a new dive and ate a huge BBQ lunch with fried pickles, chopped beef, pulled pork, sausage, fries, and fried okra. We will definitely have to take my in laws there! Of course, it was not healthy, but we were on a roll. We also had my 32 week doctor’s appointment. We got to see Gabriela again today! My has she grown. She is huge. She already had turned head down which explains why I feel more of her movements all over and more intensely. I get a lot of Braxton Hicks now and walk very funny because of her big ole head. But, I must say, she is a beauty. I could tell by the Ultrasound that she has my lips and Gabe’s nose. Gabe could not make any of this out to save his life, but we all could. The doctor and I kept pestering Gabe about how he could not make the images out that were so obvious to us. My poor baby. Oh, well, we have another picture of her which Gabe will put up for all of us. Anyway, the doctor ordered me on one year’s bed rest and no house work. Too bad, he was just playing. We had a great jolly visit. I even let Gabe go peruse the nearby Best Buy to cap off our excellent day. I, of course, stayed in the car and read yet another magazine that I stole from the Doc’s office. I think I have a problem.

Okay, well the house looks like a house now. The bedrooms look like normal rooms. We have a few “hidden items” to unpack still, but as long as they stay hidden, the house looks nice. I love my kitchen. Our neighbors are VERY friendly. The boys are outside more than inside, playing with the mass of little girls on our block! We tried to have a dog play date for Rocky with the other neighborhood dogs. Let’s just say, it was not a huge success. But, we are all happy, exhausted, but excited to be in our new home. Did I mention that I love my kitchen???

Although I did not care for the new Indy movie, Harrison Ford was still awesome. I just wanted to throw that in there.

*GABE’S EDIT* - I put the newest picture of Gabriela up. You can see it here. I can now tell what is what in the picture. Can you?

Back To Normal… Almost

We managed to finally get all of our junk out of the old house. Our living room was full of excess crap up until yesterday when we finally got it taken care of. Not really taken care of, but transferred to the appropriate room or thrown in a big closet for MBM to go through a little later. Once we get it all gussied up I’ll put up some pictures. In the meantime you can go to the CCG (Carolina Cake Gallery) and check out her High School Musical cake and Monkey cake she did last weekend for a birthday party. It was her first paying cake gig. Wonder if she is going to frame her first dollar bill???

This neighborhood is definitely not like our old one. We’ve had neighborly visits from someone on our block almost everyday we’ve been here. One nice neighbor brought us some cold-brownie-chocolatey treats and another brought us fresh banana bread straight from the oven. Both treats are gone.

So far I’ve put in 3 new lockable door knobs (master bath, Savannah’s room, spare bathroom) and one electronic dead-bolt on the back door that operates on a 4-8 digit code. I still have a couple more to change and I’ll be done with that task. Tomorrow I’m going to buy an invisible electric fence to keep our sorry mutt from running away. I’m sure that will be fun to install.

So, there’s your update. We’re about to go for a short walk/run so I can make another attempt to get my girlish figure back.

Later!

And We’re In…

We are officially moved into our new house. We’ve been sleeping here since Tuesday night, but haven’t had all of the creature comforts until today. The last one to arrive was our gas which meant we had no hot water. Carolina and I went back to the old house to take hot showers while we subjected the chirrens to cold ones! How nice are we?

Mom and dad have been here the last couple of days and except for getting in the way every other minute have been quite a bit of help. :-) They’re especially helpful when they buy me and the family dinner at Lupe Tortilla.

The neighborhood is a trip. Absolutely nothing like our old one. Very Desperate Housewifish. I’ll let MBM give you the details. Speaking of, she’s downstairs making two cakes for birthday parties tomorrow in her whopper of a kitchen.

Guess I need to get back to work. Pictures of the new abode will be up sooner or later.

Adios!

One Year Ago…

Gabe and I actually spent our first Mother’s Day together last year. I met up with him early in the morning for a run at Memorial Park. I had already told him beforehand that Mother’s Day was just another day around our household and that usually we just went on a family outing without pomp and circumstance. The day of our run, the kids and I had planned to go to the zoo. Anyway, I digress. Well, I found Gabe in the parking lot where he greeted me with his usual “hey”, but added, “Oh, by the way, Happy Mother’s Day.” That was that. That was also the day we would run into a HUGE copperhead on the trail and I screamed my head off like a girl. A man came out running to see if I was in danger and Gabe held up his hand with a big grin and said, “Hey, she saw a snake. I did not do anything.” Gabe was happy that I was the first to encounter it and not him (Then, the next day, he told everyone that I had been scared by a little grass snake!). We also met a nice old man who was letting a trapped squirrel go. I started to run off, but Gabe wanted us to wait so we could see where the squirrel ran off to once he was freed from the cage. Always the softy for animals, especially little squirrels.

One year later, Gabe and I are married, parents to great kids (most the time), and expecting a wee one. How time flies…

This morning he woke me up with a kiss and breakfast in bed. Then, he gave me the presents him and the kids made. We laid around the house as a family. Then, Savannah babysat while Gabe and I had a date and went to the movies!

This year, we will go for a walk, not a run. And like last year, I am looking forward to it.

Happy Mother’s Day!!!

Food Network Here We Come!

Here is a picture of the cake balls that Gabe and I made last night. They are absolutely our favorite treat for the house now. It is a great way to use leftover cakes and cupcakes and make something simple, but fancy looking. I am going to start making more of them to give as gifts.

I really love doing stuff like this. On Saturday, I taught my little Tiger Cubs how to make them and they loved it! Savannah and I of course had already made a couple of batches for a trial run. Last night was very nice, because it was Gabe’s idea that we make them together. It was fun and he did a great job. So now, we have cooked and baked together. He is even taking a shine to washing dishes! What a man.

Next, Gabe helps his baby’s momma do laundry!
