S.O.S. - D.D.

It’s a good thing MBM is around or this site would be seeing very few updates. Nothing noteworthy has happened this trip so I haven’t had much to tell you. I’m still cookless… My original new cook was supposed to be here last week. He’s still on a rig somewhere. My 2nd new cook was supposed to be here last night but he had a death in the family so now he won’t be here until Monday. In the meantime I’m eating dinner at one of the other employees house and believe it or not I’ve been doing my own washing…

Not much new at work either. The boss was out at the mud plants all day today so I was once again in the hot-seat. I can handle it for a day or two out of 35, but 35 out of 35 and I’m ready to kill someone!

MBM & Savannah are volunteering today at the Scout thingy Justin is involved in. He’s having all sorts of fun shooting BB guns and doing other little boy things. He ended up at the first aid station today for a minor booboo. I think MBM has pictures of that and I’m sure she’ll put them up when she can.

So, that’s all from my end. Not much more to tell. Another boring day in Port Harcourt.

Until next time…

Food Network Here We Come!

Here is a picture of the cake balls that Gabe and I made last night. They are absolutely our favorite treat for the house now. It is a great way to use leftover cakes and cupcakes and make something simple, but fancy looking. I am going to start making more of them to give as gifts.

I really love doing stuff like this. On Saturday, I taught my little Tiger Cubs how to make them and they loved it! Savannah and I of course had already made a couple of batches for a trial run. Last night was very nice, because it was Gabe’s idea that we make them together. It was fun and he did a great job. So now, we have cooked and baked together. He is even taking a shine to washing dishes! What a man.

Next, Gabe helps his baby’s momma do laundry!

Weekend Update

Ok, so I made it home right on schedule Thursday night.

Friday we had a little dinner for Savannah that included the best ribs ever (seasoned by yours truly) and some other sides that were good but MY ribs just overshadowed everything else… Including Sav’s birthday. :-)

Saturday we spent the entire afternoon from 12pm until 9pm at the park for the Tiger Scout’s Spring Camp Out. Luckily we didn’t have to stay overnight because of MBM’s oh-so-delicate condition. Justin & I played flag football, ate lots of unhealthy food (hot dogs & Frito pies) and even went fishing. Unfortunately we didn’t catch anything. Carolina took pictures and took 2nd place in the dessert contest for her “Campfire Cake Balls.” Sounds kind of like a disease you might catch! :-) Pictures of the outing are here. Pay particular attention to the pictures of me teaching the wee ones on the fine art of football. My team was a bit lacking in the adult department while the other team was stacked with adults. However, yours truly did manage to score our only touchdowns. I ran back an interception and a kick-off return for two touchdowns. Today my back is killing me. From playing flag football with 7 year olds. I’m getting old.

Sunday we spent a little over two hours at the dojo watching James get his coveted yellow belt. He wasn’t quite as excited as Justin but he’s glad to have it before the summer break starts. Now we have two little Walker Texas Rangers in the house. Congratulations boys.

It’s good to be home again.
